Sono state rese note oggi, 18 luglio 2013, a Los Angeles le nomination degli Emmy Awards, i premi dedicati alle migliori serie televisive, le miniserie e gli attori che si sono distinti durante l’anno nel panorama televisivo a stelle e strisce.
Assente di lusso dalla lista di candidature è quella che da molti veniva indicata come la serie evento dell’anno: The Following.
Si confermano invece ossi duri, per quanto riguarda le serie drama, Game of Thrones (16); Downton Abbey (12), Mad Men (12), Breaking Bad (12), e Homeland (11) che ricevono candidature in tutte le principali categorie. Ma quest’anno a mettere i bastoni tra le ruote ci potrebbe essere House of Cards ( 9), il drama politico diffuso tramite la piattaforma streaming di Netflix con protagonista Kevin Spacey. Tra le new entry ci sono anche Bates Motel, Nashville e Scandal che ottengono ciascuna una candidatura come migliore attrice protagonista grazie a Vera Farmiga, Connie Britton e Kerry Washington che dovranno però vedersela con Claire Danes protagonista di una straordinaria seconda stagione di Homeland. E sinceramente non crediamo ci sarà partita.
Anche sul fronte comedy sono molto poche le sorprese, fatta eccezione per Jason Bateman candidato come migliore attore protagonista per il redivivo Arrested Development, la serie chiusa nel 2006 da Fox e resusciata da Netflix, e Matt Le Blanc per Episodes. Per il resto “i soliti noti”: 30 Rock, Modern Family e The Big Bang Theory. Tina Fey e Amy Poehler, dopo aver diviso il palcoscenico ai Golden Globes si contenderanno il premio per la migliore attrice protagonista di una serie comica, con Lena Dunham di Girls a fare da terza incomoda.
Per quanto riguarda la categoria miniserie e filmtv, è da segnalare il botto di candidature della serie della FX American Horror Story: Asylum (17) e la presenza di Behind the Candelabra (Hbo), il film diretto da Steven Soderbergh con Matt Damon e Michael Douglas presentato a Cannes.
