Dopo il successo di What The Hell, che ha dimostrato ad Avril Lavigne come i suoi fan, nonostante i quattro anni di assenza dal mercato discografico, non l’abbiano assolutamente dimenticata, la rocker si prepara a lanciare il secondo singolo estratto dall’album Goodbye Lullaby, recentemente pubblicato. A quanto pare, nonostante Avril Lavigne avrebbe preferito realizzare il videoclip del brano Push, la casa discografica ha preferito deviare la scelta verso Smile, un brano pop rock che ben si inserisce nel percorso a cavallo tra le melodie e le chitarre distorte che caratterizzano il sound della Lavigne. Il singolo sarà dunque prossimamente in radio e in rotazione televisiva, per la gioia di tutti i fan. Il brano, come testimonia il testo qui sotto, pare proseguire il discorso iniziato con What The Hell: su tutto prevale il desiderio di libertà di Avril Lavigne e di poter vivere senza giudizi. Anche questo brano pare dunque influenzato dalla recente separazione con il marito, esperienza che certamente ha segnato la cantante, che però si è prontamente ripresa e si è abbandonata a un nuovo amore, ed è pronta a tornare a sfidare il mondo a colpi di rock.
