È morto lo storico rapper Malik B. Si spegne all’età di soli 47 anni. Il cantante americano fu uno dei fondatori dei The Roots.

Addio allo storico rapper Malik Abdul Basit, in arte Malik B. Il cantante americano si spegne all’età di soli 47 anni. Uno dei fondatori dei The Roots, gruppo hip hop statunitense formatosi a Filadelfia nel 1987. Ad annunciare il tragico esito di una vita passata tra palchi, musica e storie di vita quotidiana è stato lo stesso gruppo sopra citato attraverso i social media, esattamente sulla pagina Twitter. La causa della sua morte, però, è ancora del tutto sconosciuta.

Malik B, la sua storia prima del decesso

Malik Abdul Basit, in arte Malik B, è nato a il 14 novembre 1972, a Filadelfia, nello stato Usa della Pennsylvania. Filadelfia: stessa città dove nacque lo storico gruppo dei The Roots. Malik è stato uno dei principali protagonisti della band assieme a Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson e a Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, con cui ha inciso i primi quattro dischi dei The Roots, prima di uscirne nel 1999.

Il ritorno di Malik B nella band

Nel 2000 il gruppo, senza Malik, avrebbe vinto il suo primo Grammy Award, prima di diventare celebre anche in Italia grazie al singolo “The Seed 2.0”. Nel 2006 un appassionato ritorno, con la partecipazione ad alcuni dischi: “Game Theory” (2006) e “Rising down” (2008). Come solista, invece, ha inciso in studio due dischi: “Street Assault” e “Unpredictable”. La band lo saluta per sempre con il seguente post su Twitter.
